360 panoramas of every room, with just your phone

Vistura Capture is a 360 panorama app that runs in your phone's browser. It guides you around the room, takes the photos and joins them into one 360° image. Send the rooms to Vistura and they become a tour you can share.

One turn, column by column: down, middle, up, then up, middle, down. About 24 photos per room once the app has measured your phone's lens, 35 on the very first room.

How it works

  1. 1.Stand in the middle of the room

Turn on the lights and open the doors. Keep away from furniture.

  2. 2.The phone stays in one spot

You walk around it in small steps, as if it were fixed on a pole. Do not swing it around your body.

  3. 3.Tilt only the phone to look up or down

Keep your arm where it is and follow the dot: each photo is taken by itself when the phone is still.

After the last photo, the phone lines the photos up and joins them into one 360° image. On the phone it was tested on, a whole room, photos included, can be done in under a minute. You check it on screen, then keep it or capture the room again.

Which phones it works on

Vistura Capture runs in the phone's browser and uses the camera and the motion sensors, so there is nothing to install. So far it has been tested on Android, on a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. On iPhone it is not verified yet: Safari does not let a web page lock the camera's exposure, so the light can change from one photo to the next.

Good to know

  • A tripod keeps the phone steady on one axis and gives cleaner seams. Handheld works well in most rooms.
  • Small rooms, such as bathrooms and closets, stay imperfect handheld: things close to the phone may not line up.
  • If you capture handheld, a 360 camera is still the safer choice for your top listings.
  • On the phone it was tested on, a room can be done in under a minute, photos included.

Your photos, on any plan

Questions

Is it free?

Capturing rooms and creating the 360° photos is free and unlimited. Sending them to a tour uses your Vistura plan: on Free, the tour counts toward your 3 active listings.

Do I need an account?

Not to capture. To send the rooms to Vistura or download the photos, you sign in with your Vistura account, which can be a free one.

Can I use the photos elsewhere?

Yes. They are standard equirectangular 360° JPEG files with 360° metadata (GPano), so other 360° viewers and platforms open them. On Free the download is up to 4096 × 2048, with the Vistura mark on the floor.

Tripod or handheld?

Both work. Handheld, keep the phone in one spot and walk around it. A tripod keeps the phone on the same axis and gives cleaner seams, especially in small rooms.

How long does a room take?

On the phone it was tested on, under a minute is possible for a whole room: the photos (about 24, or 35 on the first room while the app measures your phone's lens), then the phone joins them into the 360°.

Do the photos leave my phone?

Not until you send them. The photos and the 360° images stay in the phone's browser storage. When you send a room, its 360° image is uploaded to your Vistura account; once the room is in your tour, the original photos are deleted from the phone and the 360° image stays.

Try it in the next room you list
